CALL FOR PROPOSALS of Participationat the 20TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THEATRE STUDIES

DOCUMENT AND PERFORMANCE (Document și spectacol/ Document et spectacle/ Dokumentumés előadás) Time: December 13-14, 2019 Location: University of Arts, Târgu-Mure

Nowadays, when the borders between real and virtual existence seem to be blurred and everything is transformed into data, the study of the relationship between document and performance offers endless possibilities. From historical and political documents that inspired dramatic texts, to theatrical proclamations or administrative documents of institutions, from the personal papers of creators or the methods of documentation of creative processes, to the functional systems of theatrical archives or the ethics of using documents in performances, there are a multitude of interesting and fertile directions of studying documents appearing in performative arts in general and in theatre in particular. In our intensely media-dominated world, in which the handling, publishing and interpretation of documents and data have become vital skills, the artistic exploration of truth may contribute constructively, with innovative methods to the more sustainable functioning of human society. The conference of theatrical studies organized by the University of Arts invites all those interested to an interdisciplinary conversation about the relationship between document andperformance. We welcome proposals for presentations or lecture performances by academics, scholars, researchers, creators or doctoral students engaged in the History And Theory of Performing Arts, History and Theory of Culture, Literary History and Literary Theory, History of the Arts, Aesthetics, Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology, History, History and Theory of Media or any other fields that enable a relevant study of the proposed theme. We invite you to send the summaries and proposals (250-300 words) and a professional C.V. of the author in English or French, by e-mail (in a Microsoft Word-compatible format), to the e-mail address: dokumentumkonferencia@gmail.com until November 15 th, 2019.
