NARCISSISM IN THE NEW MEDIA

Tenth Conference on Media Studies, University of Arts Tîrgu Mureș   6 May 2022

Happy selfies, hunting for likes, tricks for enhancing follower counts, uncertainty, despair due to the lack of feedback to one’s bubble, compulsive desire to express oneself – this is what the everydays of an average media consumer is about. What do we use digital media platforms for? Can this activity still be searching for information or has it become a completely different social action?

We encourage the participation of academics and professionals from the following disciplines: sociology, psychology, communication studies, pedagogy, ethics, law, and aesthetics, who are researching on media phenomena and analyzing from the perspectives of their own field of studies the changes generated by what is called new media. The aim of the conference is to disseminate the research dealing with the relationship of media and society at large.
